WBC Women’s Super Lightweight Status – May 2026
The World Boxing Council hereby extends its warmest congratulations to WBC Super Lightweight Champion Sandy Ryan on the sensational news of her pregnancy. The WBC will place Ryan in the status of Champion in Recess, ensuring she receives our full support and guaranteeing her rights when she chooses to return to the ring.
Consequent to this status, the WBC hereby orders a bout between WBC Emeritus Champion Katie Taylor and reigning EBU Champion Flora Pili (France)—the number-one ranked contender in the 140-pound division—for the vacant WBC World Super Lightweight Championship.
