A dozen players from the GTA – including five from Brampton – were named to Canada’s 26-man roster for the World Cup, which gets underway next month.

The Canadians open their Group B schedule June12 against Bosnia and Herzegovina at BMO Field (re-named ’Toronto Stadium’ for the duration of the tournament.)

The FIFA World Cup 2026 will take place from June 11 to July 19 in Canada, Mexico and the USA.

Canada Soccer’s Men’s National Team head coach Jesse Marsch confirmed his player selections in a prime time special that was broadcast live, with each player’s name unveiled and displayed on the EdgeWalk at the CN Tower, overlooking BMO Field and the city iconic skyline.

“It is an honour to name our squad for a World Cup on home soil. These players reflect the many communities, cultures, and journeys that make up this country,” said Marsche. “They are determined, fearless, and proud to wear Canada across their chest. We look forward to uniting Canadians this summer, and we invite everyone to be part of this journey with us.”

The group will travel for pre-tournament send-off matches against Uzbekistan on June 1 on Play Alberta Field at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton and the Republic of Ireland on June 5 at Stade Saputo in Montréal. Both matches will air live nationally on TSN, RDS, and OneSoccer.

Canada will compete in Group B at the tournament, alongside Bosnia, Qatar, and Switzerland, with matches scheduled for June 12 in Toronto against Bosnia in Toronto and June 18 (Qatar) and June 24 (Switzerland) at Vancouver’s BC Place (re-named Vancouver Stadium for the tournament).
