Finland scored three unanswered goals in the second period as they defeated Canada 4-2 at the men’s World Hockey Championship semifinal on Saturday.
The Finns will face Switzerland on Sunday in the gold-medal game as they seek their fifth title in the nation’s history and their first since 2022.
Finland was trailing 2-1 entering the second period thanks to a pair of goals from Dylan Holloway and Robert Thomas in the opening frame for Canada.
Captain Aleksander Barkov tied the game less than a minute into the second period and then Konsta Helenius and Aatu Raty put Finland ahead with goals 1:22 apart midway through the frame.
Patrik Puistola also scored for Finland.
Netminder Justus Annunen stonewalled Canada in the victory, making 28 saves, including 15 saves in the third period. Jet Greaves took the loss after allowing four goals on 21 shots.
