NHL fans have kept a close eye on free agents and are forwarding Jack Roslovic this offseason.
The former first-round pick has never reached astounding numbers but has seen his fair share of production. His offensive skills could, in theory, make him a decent addition to the Toronto Maple Leafs. However, between rumors of where Roslovic will end up and the fact that Auston Matthews remains crucial to the core of the Maple Leafs’ franchise, there have been many questions about where Roslovic could end up.
And Maple Leafs analysts are starting to take notice.
Toronto Maple Leafs Insiders Claim Toronto Should Be Deterred from Signing Jack Roslovic
During Wednesday’s episode of The LeafsNation.com’s “Leafs Morning Take,” hosts Nick Alberga and Zack Phillips discussed Roslovic’s remaining status as a free agent.
“I already see a scenario where they sign this guy and two weeks in we’re like ‘[redacted] it doesn’t fit with Knies and Matthews. What now for Jack Roslovic?’ Quite honestly, [he’s] a good player but this has been a story of his career,” Alberga said. “You start to wonder and have questions. The Carolina Hurricanes, one of the premier teams in the league, why didn’t they want Jack Roslovic anymore? Why hasn’t anybody bid?”
It’s August 13th and the #LeafsForever are still being linked to Jack Roslovic…

However, it is also worth mentioning that some consider Roslovic to be one of the best remaining free agents available, particularly among centers.
But Phillips also said that Roslovic’s availability raises the question of whether any franchise in the league wants to add him to its roster.
“There’s actually probably more likelihood that it doesn’t work, than that it does. The expectations is he’s a guy who can fit in to maybe your second, likely your third line,” Phillips said. “On the positive side, on the bright side, on the most optimistic outcome, he is an impact player but … does anybody want this guy? Like how can we get him out of here? Where does he fit now? I do feel like that’s going to be coming around the corner.”
Roslovic finished the 2024-25 season with 39 points across 22 goals and 17 assists in 81 games. Carolina signed him as a free agent in July of 2024. The 28-year-old also currently boasts 260 points throughout his career so far.
