With the Monaco GP scheduled for next weekend, hotel prices have already begun to skyrocket, reaching six digits for the entire race weekend. One could actually buy a house or a supercar for that price!

However, those who can indulge in the flavor of Grand Prix racing in the principality can experience F1 from angles and proximity no other venue can offer. There is a reason why Monaco, despite the F1 cars getting larger, has remained an integral part of the sport since its debut in 1950.

A post on Instagram by dmarge suggests that some rooms in Monaco for the GP weekend are priced above €260,000, which in USD is $303,225. It is unclear whether that price is for a two-night or three-night duration, but the fact that it crossed the $300,000 mark suggests there is ample demand for rooms with views of the race track. The post read:

“Some rooms are now listed above €260,000 (around $422,000 AUD) for race weekend stays. The glamour keeps getting louder each year. So does the backlash.

“Luxury in Monaco is now drifting further from everyday reality. What feels exclusive to some now feels completely out of touch to others.

“Monaco keeps pushing exclusivity to the limit.”

With Monaco raising the price bar every year, affordability could become an issue in the coming years. Users have reacted to the post on Instagram, with many revealing their frustration about the expensive room tariffs, while some have pointed out that affordable options do exist.
