The Valkyries somehow remain undervalued at home, a distinct delight in 2025 that should not last long in 2026.
EXPERT PICK – MONEYLINE
Golden State +110

Photo By – Reuters Connect. Kayla Thornton and the Valkyries currently sit second in the WNBA standings.
Only eight of 15 WNBA teams will make the postseason this year. Less than a month into the season may seem far too early to point out that shift, but as the Las Vegas Aces again show indifference to early-season results, there may be a greater cost at risk.
Meanwhile, the Golden State Valkyries sit second in the WNBA standings.
My Aces vs. Valkyries predictions and WNBA picks cannot help but notice that the wrong team is favored on Sunday, May 31.
Aces vs Valkyries prediction
Aces vs Valkyries best bet: Valkyries moneyline (+110)
The Golden State Valkyries were undervalued at home in their debut season last year, going 14-8 outright compared to 9-13 on the road. That was a known betting edge in WNBA circles, but the world should catch up in 2026. Yet, the stumbling Las Vegas Aces are favored on the road.
The Aces have risked the first half of the season for a couple of years now, content to figure things out before the playoffs. Just like a year ago, Las Vegas is plodding defensively, No. 10 in the WNBA ratings through seven games.
That alone is of concern, particularly against a Golden State squad ranked No. 4 in offensive rating. Furthermore, that is Golden State’s lesser half, enjoying the No. 2 defensive rating at this point in the young season.
Look for the Aces to lose their fifth straight game ATS and third straight outright before soon righting the ship. They should not be favored today. They might not even deserve to be underdogs of less than a bucket.

Do not overstate the start of A’ja Wilson’s season. She was the MVP and Defensive Player of the Year in 2025, and she started that season with similar scoring struggles.
Wilson scored 25+ points in just two of her first 12 games last season, a trend she may match with just one such game this year through seven games.
If there is something to worry about, it is that Wilson has also eased up on the glass. She has cracked double-digit rebounds in only two of seven games.
Wilson and the Aces will undoubtedly figure out what works before long, but they very much have not yet.

Douglas Farmer spends his days thinking about college football and his nights thinking about the NBA. His betting habits and coverage follow that same pattern. He covered Notre Dame football for various outlets from 2008 to 2024, most notably spending eight seasons as NBC Sports’ beat writer on the Irish. That was also when his gambling focus took off. Knowing there were veteran beat writers with three decades more experience than he had, Douglas found his niche by best recognizing Notre Dame’s standing in each year’s national landscape, a complex tapestry most easily understood and remembered via betting odds.
In 2021, that interest created a freelance opportunity with Covers, a role that eventually led to Douglas joining the company full-time in 2023. In the fall, Douglas will place five or six dozen bets each week, a disproportionate amount via BetRivers because the operator tends to have lines slightly different than the rest of the market. The same can be said of Circa Sports’ futures markets.
While Douglas is an avid NBA fan and covers the league throughout the year, the vast majority of his bets are on college football, because that is the biggest key to sports betting: Know what you do not know.
