Multi-use path on the east side of the stal’ew’asem bridge open Monday

The multi-use path on the east side of the stal’ew’asem Bridge will open the morning of June 1 for pedestrians and cyclists.

The east side of the path in Surrey will connect the sidewalk and existing bike routes on the north and south sides of King George Boulevard. Cyclists will have to dismount at the area indicated by a sign, as the path temporarily narrows while work is underway to widen the road there. This widening could not take place until the Pattullo Bridge approach was removed.

There is also a new multi-use path in New Westminster that will connect to the bridge via an overpass across Columbia Street.

The bike shuttle will end on Friday (May 29) when the bridge closes for the weekend to complete the path.

The path on the west side of the bridge is scheduled to open sometime this summer, along with several multi-use pathways leading up to the bridge in Surrey and New Westminster.
