Important Information Regarding the Green and Gold “Cuna de Campeones” Tournament
To all participants in the Green and Gold “Cuna de Campeones” (Cradle of Champions) tournament, organized by Coyoacán Boxing, please be advised:
This statement is to express our deepest regret over the acts of violence that occurred last Friday, May 29, 2026, during the first day of the event. These events jeopardized the safety of many individuals and caused serious injuries to the event promoter, Efren Juarez, who remains hospitalized as of this date.
The World Boxing Council (WBC) was supporting the promoter in staging this event. Consequently, the Council will conduct a comprehensive review alongside the promoter, competent authorities, participants, trainers, and anyone involved to determine the causes of these unfortunate events, establish accountability, address any concerns that may arise from any participant, and take any appropriate corrective or legal action.
The World Boxing Council will keep all interested parties informed regarding the progress of these investigations.
