Many hockey fan have been wondering all their lives whether Vancouver will ever get to see the Stanley Cup.

And while it’s not the Canucks bringing the trophy home, the Stanley Cup will be in the Metro Vancouver region next week.

You can thank Florida Panthers star Sam Reinhart for his choice to bring the Cup to British Columbia later this month.

On Tuesday, Aug. 19, from 12:15 to 2:30 p.m., Reinhart and the Stanley Cup will be at Dundarave Pier and Beach House, at 150 25th St. in West Vancouver. Both Reinhart and Mayor Mark Sager will be making remarks on the day.

Fans can sign up for the chance to take a photo with a registration process run through ActiveNet, a program utilized for West Van’s recreation services. Up to five people can be included per photo, and one registration is required per group. Each photo with the Stanley Cup costs $25, benefiting West Vancouver Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue and Cops for Cancer.

Reinhart, who was born in North Vancouver, spent parts of five seasons with the WHL’s Kootenay Ice, winning a league title in 2011 and winning both Rookie and Player of the Year over the course of his junior hockey career.

Reinhart has won two Stanley Cups in the last two seasons, though he missed the 2024 parade due to a friend’s wedding.

“This is the best parade that’s ever happened in South Florida. Thank god I missed last year and not this year,” Reinhart told the crowd in June at the Panthers’ 2025 rally.

Reinhart scored four goals (including two empty netters) in the Panthers’ clinching Game 6 victory over the Edmonton Oilers.

“I can’t really put into words what it means,” Reinhart said. “It’s something you never really think about. You know, in a lot of instances, this one was even harder to overcome and be here at the end.
