Motorists who tried to use the Jacques-Cartier Bridge to get into Montreal Tuesday morning found themselves tangled in a major traffic jam after a collision involving at least two vehicles  at 7:30 a.m. reduced the number of city-bound lanes to just one. The lanes leading to the South Shore were reduced to two.

The federal agency that administers that span said the situation had returned to normal by 9:20 a.m.

However motorists can still expect delays as the backlog created by the incident will need time to clear.
