The San Francisco Giants have, so far in 2026, been one of the biggest disappointments in Major League Baseball. Tony Vitello hasn’t been a great manager, the big stars on the team are performing well below expectations, and as a whole, they’re 23-37.

With how things are going, it would hardly be a surprise if the Giants, 15 games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL West, wound up as deadline sellers this season.

Kerry Miller of Bleacher Report is predicting the Giants sell, but this bold prediction goes a step further. Miller is predicting the Giants will be the “biggest” trade deadline sellers of any team this year, as Buster Posey tears down the roster in a full-scale fire sale.

“San Francisco has the biggest fire sale,” Miller predicts. “… And if Posey so chooses, the Giants could have quite the fire sale over the course of the next two months, as they could be headed for more than 100 losses for what would be the first time in franchise history.”

The Giants winding up as massive trade deadline sellers would not be that big of a surprise based on how the season’s gone.

But who would be a part of such a big fire sale? Rafael Devers, Matt Chapman, and Willy Adames, as much as the Giants might be willing to trade them, will find it hard to find offers for those three sluggers.

Players who could actually be on the move this season are Luis Arraez, Robbie Ray, and Tyler Mahle. All three are free agents after this season, which is the most obvious indication that someone could be on the move for a seller.

But Miller also named Harrison Bader as one player who could also be traded despite being under contract beyond 2026. And, if the Giants really want to commit to a fire sale, Logan Webb could also be dealt for a massive package of prospects.

The Giants are not a competitive team right now, and while it would be a sad way to go about the deadline, being massive sellers in what’s likely to be a sellers’ market might be a good idea long-term for the franchise.

Miller is predicting the Giants to have the “biggest” trade deadline, but for all of the wrong reasons.

Acting as a major seller, parting with more players than any other seller, would be a tough pill to swallow. But, even though it’s not a fun decision, it might be the best move for the future of the Giants franchise.
