Goalkeeper Felipe Drolet has departed Vancouver FC.
A “mutual termination agreement” was announced by the team, on Monday, June 1, that credited the 18-year old Colombian-Canadian with providing “depth, professionalism and competition within the goalkeeping group during his time with the Eagles.”
Online team stats appear to show Drolet didn’t get any playing time against rival Canadian Premier League teams through two seasons
”Vancouver FC would like to thank Felipe for his commitment and contributions to the club and wishes him all the best in his future endeavours,” the statement added.
Drolet was 16 when he signed a two-year contract with VFC through the 2026 season, with a club option for an additional two years,
At the time, VFC’s new head of goalkeeping, Niko Giantsopoulos, called Drolet “a young and talented goalkeeper with tremendous potential.”
Drolet was playing with the team’s inaugural U-19 academy team.
His career included time with Mountain United FC in the BC Soccer Premier League before joining the Vancouver Whitecaps FC Academy in 2022.
He earned a training camp call-up to the Colombian Men’s U-17 National Team in December 2024 while in the VFC academy system.
