A 22-year-old man was in critical condition after being stabbed inside a business in Montreal North on Tuesday, police say.

Around 4 p.m., an altercation between a group of people escalated inside the business on Henri-Bourassa Blvd. near Rolland Blvd., said police spokesperson Raphaƫl Bergeron.

The victim was stabbed in his upper body and was in critical condition at the hospital as of 8 p.m. Tuesday.

According to Bergeron, the suspect fled the scene on foot. Police are reviewing video surveillance footage to find more information on the incident, and are trying to obtain a full description of the suspect.

An investigation is ongoing.
