Hamilton’s Terra Lightfoot will headline a special halftime performance at the Hamilton Tiger-Cats’ season opener Thursday, marking what the team says is a first for the stadium in the modern era.
The Tiger-Cats announced the Hamilton-born singer-songwriter will perform during halftime of the club’s June 4 home opener against the Montreal Alouettes at Hamilton Stadium. Lightfoot’s set will include a guest appearance by Patrick Pentland of the Canadian rock band Sloan.
The performance is being presented by Tourism Hamilton and is intended to celebrate the city’s music scene.
Courtney Stephen, the team’s media relations manager, told CBC Hamilton in an email the halftime show is “certainly a first in the post-Ivor Wynne era,” referring to the old stadium where the Ticats played, which hosted its last game in 2012.
The halftime show won’t be the only live music performance happening throughout opening night. Kingston rock band Eddy and the Dirty Boys will perform before the game at the Stipley Fan Zone, while DJ Prod Beenie will play at the Coors Original Bar and DJ Caprio will provide music throughout the game.
The Stipley Stage, which hosts live pre-game and halftime performances, is returning for its third season. According to the team, the 2026 lineup will include artists from across Ontario.
The club also announced that its “Ticats Together” initiative will return with expanded family-focused offerings, including season seats starting at $10 per game for families and value concession items beginning at $2 on the Upper West concourse.
The Tiger-Cats will open the 2026 Canadian Football League season against Montreal in a rematch of last year’s East Division final.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
