Streetcars are not running on a large stretch of King Street in downtown Toronto after a truck crashed into a bridge.
The incident occurred around 8:20 a.m. on Wednesday near King Street West and Atlantic Avenue in Liberty Village.
The TTC said the 504A and 504B streetcars are diverting eastbound via Dufferin Street, Queen Street West and Shaw Street due to repairs from the loss of overhead power. Streetcars travelling westbound will remain on King.
According to the latest TTC update, shuttle buses are running between Sunnyside Avenue and Strachan Avenue.
“Crews are responding, but depending on the extent of the damage, this diversion could last into tomorrow,” TTC spokesperson Stuart Green told CityNews.
The TTC said it does not appear the bridge has structural damage, but the overhead wires may have been damaged.
The cause of the crash is not yet known.
No injuries have been reported.
