Atlanta Dream starAngel Reese continues to write her name in the WNBA history books. During Tuesday’s 91-75 win over the Connecticut Sun, the former LSU player took home more than just another victory.
Angel shone at Gateway Center Arena with 12 points (4-for-9 from the field), 13 rebounds, and 5 assists in 29 minutes of action. But after sinking a wide-open corner three-pointer at the end of the third quarter, the two-time All-Star added two new milestones to her career, and the league didn’t let it go unnoticed.
The WNBA highlights Reese’s achievement
Angel, who arrived in Atlanta following a high-profile trade from the Chicago Sky in exchange for first-round picks in the 2027 and 2028 drafts, has had an immediate impact on the team aiming to contend for the title this season, but she also continues to grow as an individual player.
In fact, against the Sun and with her long-range three-pointer, Reese not only turned the game around, but also because it was her first with Atlanta since her arrival and because, furthermore, it marked her 1,000th career point in her third WNBA season.
For this reason, the league decided to publicly recognize the young star on its official X account (formerly Twitter) after she reached this impressive milestone:
“Give Angel her flowers. Not only her first three-pointer with the @AtlantaDream, but ALSO her 1,000TH point in her pro career!,” read the caption.
The recognition comes at a special time for the former LSU player and her new team. In the early games of the season, Reese has been a key contributor to Atlanta’s strong performance, averaging 13.0 points, 11.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.1 steals over eight games.
As a result, the team has managed to stay in first place in the Eastern Conference with a 6-2 record.
Their next challenge will be the Commissioner’s Cup. Their first opponent will be Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever, the defending champions, on Thursday, June 4, at 7:00 PM ET at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
