Poor “Thug Nasty” can’t get a break with the self-inflicted injuries.
“It was accidental, but I’ll tell you what happened,” Mitchell told reporters during UFC Vegas 118 media day. “I had some laundry detergent that got stuck in my shirt, and I started to do a workout. And that shirt and laundry detergent got all on my skin, and the suds were coming out of my shirt. I didn’t know what was happening, so I kept training — at first, I thought I was sweating out all of the milk that I drank because I drank a gallon of milk. Then it started getting bubbly and foamy, and I was like, ‘Nah, bro, that’s not milk, that’s soap.’”
“By the time we figured out it was soap, my nipples were already on fire, and it literally burnt my nipples bad, man,” Mitchell added. “So, you make sure what detergent you use because your nipples are sensitive to that type of stuff.”
Thankfully, Mitchell’s nipples are okay.
Mitchell is coming off a unanimous decision win over Said Nurmagomedov and is competing at Bantamweight, his new weight class, for the second time. Before that, he spent the majority of his UFC career at Featherweight, where he built a reputation for his suffocating grappling, bizarre interviews and truly one-of-a-kind personality.
Now, he’ll look to pick up his second straight win at 135 pounds — hopefully with no more strange injuries before fight night.
