Got plans for the Canada Day weekend/U.S. Independence Day?
If not, Eric Y. Lapointe encouraged Lower Mainlanders to come out to Surrey, specifically Yuk Yuk’s Surrey, located within Elements Casino in Cloverdale.
Lapointe—CEO of Icarus Capital, the organization that owns Yuk Yuk’s Surrey—said they are bringing back their Maple Laughs Canada Day event. Only this year, with July 1 falling in the middle of the week, it’ll be held on the weekend (July 3-4).
“We tried this out last year in Surrey and it was a big success as both nights delivered a showcase-style line-up of Canadian comics,” he said. “The funny part is that Canada Day falls on a Wednesday, so we decided it would be hilarious to do a post-Canada Day celebration and jokingly say it’s an ‘Independence Day Takeover.’”
Lapointe said two different shows will be featured in Surrey on July 3-4 (tickets are $22.95 for one show, or $30 for both).
“On July 4th itself, Maple Laughs will also have an entirely different line-up in Fort Langley at the Fort Pub & Grill where we now do shows twice per month,” he explained. “Local fans really seem to love watching comedy at the Fort Pub.”
Maple Laughs is billed as a “post-Canada Day Showcase.” Comics on tap for the Yuk Yuk’s Surrey show are (July 3): Gavin Clarkson, Kevin Von Helvete, Aaron Campbell, D Fretter, Eve Ghostkeeper, Carter Sellinger, and (July 4): Steve McGowan, Emily Quereshi, Aman Singh, Kevin Appleby, Trevor Lawless, Bradley Sakawksy.
Shows run Friday, July 3 and Saturday July 4 at 8 p.m. at Yuk Yuk’s Surrey, located within Elements Casino at 17755 60th Avenue in Surrey.
The Fort Pub & Grill show will run July 4 at 8:30 p.m., located at 9273 Glover Road in Fort Langley.
