Ottawa firefighters battled a complex fire in the city’s rural south end early Thursday.
They said they were called to 8th Line Road south of the community of Metcalfe around 12:45 a.m.
Firefighters were told there was a large barn fire that was possibly spreading to other buildings and said they confirmed multiple burning buildings when they arrived.
Some of the challenges on the scene included a fuel tank on the side of a barn, collapsing structures, hydro wires attached to one building and a lack of hydrants in the area, they said.
The fire was declared under control shortly after 2 a.m. and firefighters said the cause is under investigation.
