It’s Shawarma Time.
Signs are up for a new shawarma spot less than a month after Popeyes fried chicken flew the coop.
The corner of Hamilton and West Georgia will be home to Shawarma Time soon, though no timeline has been made public. In mid-May, Popeyes closed its fast-food chicken joint at that spot after three years in the CBC building
Not much is known about Shawarma Time at this point. In fact, the incoming restaurant has no digital footprint as of yet (at least none that we could find before publishing). No timeline or menu has been revealed either.
But it’s not related to the Shawarma Time food truck, which is based in Chilliwack, apparently.
At the same time, the new spot shares a logo with Shelby’s Shawarma, an Ontario-based shawarma chain (and official shawarma to the Toronto Maple Leafs).
We’ve reached out to Shelby’s and will update this story if more information is made available.
