Ottawa police have charged a man after a stabbing victim boarded an OC Transpo bus on Rideau Street on Wednesday.

Police said the injured man boarded the bus near Friel Street just before 11 a.m.

In an update on Thursday, police said the victim had been on the sidewalk when another man approached and stabbed him in “what appears to have been an unprovoked attack.”

Police said the victim sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

A 57-year-old man has been charged with one count each of:

Assault cause bodily harm.Assault with a weapon.Possess weapon dangerous.Carry conceal weapon.

He’s scheduled to appear in court Thursday, police said.
