TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) – The cycling community is remembering former professional rider from Tucson, Andy Bishop.

The Arizona Bicycle Racing Association posted a tribute, calling him “a legend on and off the bike.” Bishop was one of the first riders from Tucson to break into professional cycling.

He competed in the Tour de France three times and won the 1995 Herald Sun Tour in Australia. In a message, his family said he died peacefully early Tuesday morning in New Hampshire, surrounded by loved ones.

They say an obituary and celebration of life are being planned.
