UPDATE: Police said shortly before 6:30 p.m. that the victim’s injuries are non-life threatening. Road closures remain in place while officers are on the scene.
One person has been rushed to a trauma centre in critical condition after a three-vehicle crash in Mississauga’s west end on Friday afternoon, police say.
Peel Regional Police didn’t provide many details about the multi-vehicle collision, saying only that it occurred just after 3 p.m. at Thomas Street and Ninth Line in the Churchill Meadows area of the city.
The person taken to hospital was driving one of the cars involved in the crash, according to police.
There’s no word yet on any other injuries.
Northbound and southbound lanes on Ninth Line have been closed to traffic between Deepwood Heights (south of Thomas Street) and Brinwood Gate (north of Thomas Street), police said.
Motorists are urged to avoid the area, if possible. Traffic delays are expected in the vicinity, police added.
