Ottawa paramedics said they took a man pulled from the Carleton University pool to hospital in critical condition Sunday evening.
Paramedics said they were called there shortly after 8 p.m.
Spokesperson Marc-Antoine Deschamps said he was found in cardiac arrest and taken out of the water by lifeguards, who worked to resuscitate him with campus security and eventually paramedics.
While he didn’t know all the circumstances, Deschamps said it’s possible the man had a medical incident while swimming. He wasn’t able to offer an approximate age.
The university said Monday morning that staff followed their emergency plans during a critical incident at the pool and that police are investigating.
