1963 – At the iconic Madison Square Garden in New York, Emile Griffith (Virgin Islands) defeated Cuba’s Luis Manuel Rodríguez by decision, successfully defending the WBC world super welterweight championship.
1990 – At the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan’s Hideyuki Ohashi retained his WBC world strawweight title by capturing a decision victory over Thai challenger Napa Kiatwanchai.
2002 – In one of the most highly anticipated heavyweight fights in history, Britain’s Lennox Lewis knocked out America’s Mike Tyson in the eighth round in Memphis, Tennessee, retaining the undisputed WBC heavyweight championship.
2013 – Canadian Adonis “Superman” Stevenson captured the WBC world light heavyweight championship after scoring a stunning knockout over America’s Chad Dawson in Montreal, Canada.
