A 33-year-old Brampton man, accused of second-degree murder of man at popular Orillia park, made a brief court appearance Monday
A 33-year-old Brampton man accused of second-degree murder after a body was found at an Orillia park last week appeared in court briefly today.
Devin Alamina, who court records show has a criminal record for assault and weapons offences, was remanded until Wednesday when he will return to court by video.
Police charged Alamina about a day after a body was discovered on a trail at Scout Valley six days ago.
Court records indicate that Alamina had been released in a “time-served position” for an assault in Orillia. He had been on probation for another incident at the time of his arrest.
As of his most recent appearance, Alamina had not yet retained a lawyer.
The popular nature park was closed for multiple days following the June 2 incident and did not reopen to the public until late Friday afternoon.
OrilliaMatters asked the Orillia OPP multiple questions about the alleged attack, the suspect, public safety and details about the lengthy investigation at the park just off Old Barrie Road in west Orillia.
Orillia OPP confirmed the victim was a man, but would provide no other details.
