Two Ottawa residents are facing multiple charges after police recovered a stolen vehicle and seized suspected drugs during a traffic stop in Pembroke.

The Upper Ottawa Valley OPP said officers stopped a vehicle on Christie Street shortly after 1 a.m. on May 22 after an Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) alert identified the vehicle as stolen.

Police arrested both occupants and seized quantities of suspected cocaine, fentanyl and methamphetamine, along with Canadian currency.

A 39-year-old man from Ottawa has been charged with three counts of trafficking a Schedule I substance, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and failing to comply with a probation order.

A 35-year-old woman from Ottawa has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, impaired operation and breach of recognizance. Her driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Both accused were released and are scheduled to appear in Pembroke court on June 22.

Three impaired driving charges laid over weekend

Upper Ottawa Valley OPP charged three drivers with impaired-related offences during separate incidents over the final weekend in May.

Police received a traffic complaint shortly before 11 p.m. on May 29 involving a suspected impaired driver leaving a hotel on International Drive in Pembroke. Officers located the vehicle and arrested the driver following an investigation.

A 35-year-old woman from North Algona Wilberforce Township was charged with impaired operation and several provincial offences. She is scheduled to appear in Pembroke court on July 13.

About 30 minutes later, police responded to a collision involving a side-by-side off-road vehicle and a passenger vehicle at the intersection of Black Bay Road and Petawawa Boulevard. Investigators allege the side-by-side left the scene before being located a short time later.

A 49-year-old man from Petawawa has been charged with impaired operation, dangerous operation, public mischief and failing to remain at the scene of a collision. He is scheduled to appear in court on June 30.

In a third incident, officers located a vehicle in a parking lot near the intersection of Round Lake Road and Highway 17 shortly before 4 a.m. on May 31.

A 35-year-old woman from Chapeau was charged with impaired operation and possession of a Schedule I substance. She is scheduled to appear in court on June 29.

In each case, the accused driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Pembroke driver charged after Laurentian Valley crash

A Pembroke resident is facing an impaired driving charge following a single-vehicle collision in Laurentian Valley Township.

Upper Ottawa Valley OPP officers responded to the crash at the intersection of B Line Road and Pembroke Street West shortly after 10:30 p.m. on May 24. Police said no injuries were reported.

Following an investigation, a 25-year-old from Pembroke was charged with impaired operation.

Their driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. They are scheduled to appear in Pembroke court on June 22.

Gatineau driver charged after Highway 17 complaint

A Gatineau resident is facing an impaired driving charge after OPP responded to a traffic complaint in Whitewater Region.

Police received a report of an erratic driver on Highway 17 shortly after 3:30 p.m. on May 16 and located the vehicle a short time later.

Following an investigation, a 41-year-old man from Gatineau was charged with impaired operation.

His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. He is scheduled to appear in Pembroke court on June 16.

Pembroke man charged after refusing roadside demand

A Pembroke resident has been charged after a RIDE program check in the city.

Upper Ottawa Valley OPP officers were conducting a RIDE check on Pembroke Street East shortly after midnight on May 16 when they stopped a vehicle and began an investigation.

Police charged a 38-year-old man from Pembroke with refusing to comply with a roadside demand.

His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. He is scheduled to appear in Pembroke court on June 8.
