A new kind of fan fest will host its 3rd annual event this weekend on the Cloverdale Fairgrounds.

“Collector Con,” a comic-con/fan-expo event will be held in both Shannon Hall and the Alice McKay building June 12-13.

“After the success of the first two years, we’re back and bigger than ever for the third year of Collector Con,” notes a post on the Collector Con website.

Organizers promise another “epic” weekend that will bring collectors, cosplayers, and fans together.

“Last year, we kicked off Collector Con with a mission to unite the nerd and collector in all of us, and we’re thrilled to continue building this community,” the post continues. “Whether you’re a lifelong collector, a cosplay enthusiast, or just love all things geeky, this event is for you.”

Collector Con is being billed as a “weekend of fun, fandom, and celebration.”

Attendees can expect to find comics, Pokémon, video games, sports cards, art, plushies, lightsabers, toys and more at the event.

Organisers have booked several special guests, including; comic book writers, voice actors, actors, cosplayers, film enthusiasts, and other collectors.

There are a ton of panels, workshops, and activities lined up, including: board game tables, retro gaming, a photo booth, balloon animals, cosplay meet-ups, contests, collector gatherings, scavenger hunts, prize games, and several other things.

There will be more than 100 vendors selling an array of items for “every retro fan and collector” from comics to toys to vintage games and everything pop culture.

Cosplay is a blend of the words “costume play” and is a type of performance art where fans of specific TV shows, movies, cartoons, anime, comic books, video games, and even rock stars dress up as their favourite characters and enter into contests and attend conventions.

The two-day event also includes a cosplay contest, a Gunpla competition (mecha modelling), and a one-page story contest.

The event runs Friday, June 12, from 3 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, June 13, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Tickets for Collector Con 2026 run $10 per day or $15 for both days. Tickets can be purchased online via the Collector Con website, or at the door.

Shannon Hall and Alice McKay are located at 6050 176th Street on the Cloverdale Fairgrounds.
