Sophie Cunningham didn’t need a flashy tunnel fit to make an impression Monday night. Before the Indiana Fever faced the Washington Mystics, Cunningham arrived in what fans quickly labeled “Business Mode.” Wearing a brown workout set with a white sweatshirt draped casually over her shoulders, the veteran guard opted for a comfortable, understated look that stood out for its simplicity.

At the time, it was just another pregame arrival. A few hours later, it looked like a prediction.

The Fever escaped Washington with a dramatic 78-76 victory thanks to Caitlin Clark’s game-winning 3-pointer with 1.2 seconds remaining, improving to 6-5 on the season. And suddenly, Cunningham’s “Business Mode: ACTIVATED” vibe felt especially fitting.

The WNBA has become known for its tunnel fashion, with players regularly showcasing bold outfits before games. Cunningham has certainly had her share of memorable pregame looks.

This one took a different approach. The neutral brown workout attire paired with the white sweatshirt created a relaxed, confident appearance that looked more focused on the task ahead than making headlines. It was comfortable, practical and perfectly aligned with the caption fans attached to it online.

As it turned out, the Fever handled their business too.

Cunningham made her presence felt

While Clark’s game-winner became the defining moment of the night, Cunningham quietly contributed in several important ways. The veteran guard played 22 minutes off the bench and finished with eight points as Indiana secured a much-needed victory.

More importantly, she helped set up the play everyone is still talking about. With the Fever trailing by one and only 4.3 seconds remaining, Cunningham was responsible for inbounding the ball on Indiana’s final possession. She delivered a perfectly timed pass to Clark, who came free off a screen and buried the game-winning 3-pointer from well beyond the arc.

Without the pass, there is no shot. Without the shot, there is no win.

The Fever needed this one

Indiana appeared headed for another frustrating loss after Sonia Citron’s free throws gave Washington a 76-75 lead in the final seconds. Instead, Clark delivered one of the biggest shots of her WNBA career, finishing with a team-high 19 points.

Aliyah Boston added 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Kelsey Mitchell chipped in 15 points as the Fever improved their record and gained momentum heading deeper into the Commissioner’s Cup schedule.

For Cunningham, the night offered another reminder that impact isn’t always measured by points alone. Her eight points helped. Her inbound pass mattered even more.

And by the time the final buzzer sounded, her pregame look felt like the perfect summary of the evening.

Business mode was activated.

The Fever got the job done. Just like a business trip.
