Teenage girl reports stranger sexual assault in Surrey: Police seek witnesses

A teenage girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by a stranger in Surrey’s Clayton Heights neighbourhood on Saturday (June 6), and police are looking for witnesses to help identify the suspect.
Police responded to a report of a “stranger sexual assault” around 7 p.m. Saturday. The female victim “reported that she was sexually assaulted at approximately 4:30 p.m. near the intersection of 188 Street and 70 Avenue, Surrey. The suspect allegedly approached the victim from behind and assaulted her. The victim was able to flee and run to safety,” Surrey Police stated in a news release Tuesday (June 9).
The assault was near Clayton Heights Secondary School, but police did not specify if she was a student of the school.
Police said the suspect is described as a Black man, six-foot-one to six-foot-two in height, around 20 years old, with short, curly black hair and a short black beard covering the side of his face, chin and mouth. He was wearing a black T-shirt and possibly black pants, and was last seen walking northbound on 188th Street.
