NASCAR inspection issues at Richmond Raceway
NASCAR Cup Series drivers are racing at Richmond Raceway in Virginia. Ahead of practice and qualifying, all cars must pass through NASCAR inspection to make sure cars comply with the rulebook.
The No. 16 team failed to pass inspection, twice.
NASCAR has issued a penalty. Car chief Jaron Antley has been ejected from the track. Additionally, the team has lost pit selected for the event.
The No. 16 car was able to pass on their third attempt through the inspection line, preventing further penalties.
All other teams were able to clear inspection on their first or second attempt through the line.
Qualifying is about to get underway. The NASCAR Cup Series takes the green flag in the race on Saturday night.
NASCAR Inspection Penalties
Pre-Qualifying
The following includes various levels of inspection penalties:
1 Failure
No Penalty
2 Failures
Crew member of NASCAR’s choosing ejected. Additionally, the team loses pit selection.
3 Failures
Not permitted to qualify plus above penalty. They also have to serve a pass-through penalty at the start of the race.
