It’s wasn’t a crash or construction that slowed down traffic on part of Highway 401 Wednesday morning.
The morning commute was instead slowed by a group of geese in the eastbound lanes.
Two police cruisers could be seen on a traffic camera escorting the group, working to help them make it safely off the highway.
“OPP is assisting with the safe removal of a group of geese from the highway after receiving reports of birds on the eastbound collector lanes of Highway 401, just after Weston Road in Toronto, at approximately 8 a.m.,” an Ontario Provincial Police spokesperson told INsauga.com.
The officers’ efforts continued until past 10 a.m., with the geese approaching Keele Street.
The right collector lane was closed in the area as a result, causing a heavy traffic backup.
At around 10:20 a.m., a person could be seen catching the geese.
They were then taken away in a carrier.
The OPP spokesperson confirmed that they were all safely gathered.
