The Cleveland Guardians have lost four games in a row, and now are in second place in the AL Central after the Chicago White Sox overtook them in the division.

Even though the 2026 season has been going well, this recent four-game losing streak and overall inconsistency make it clear that this team would benefit from adding at the MLB trade deadline. But that’s not the rumor mill at the moment for the Guardians.

Instead, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the Guardians are receiving trade inquiries on three minor league catchers from rival executives within two months before the MLB trade deadline on August 3.

“But rival clubs already are calling on Triple-A catchers Bo Naylor, Cooper Ingle and Kody Huff,” Rosenthal writes, “according to a person briefed on the Guards’ discussions.”

The Guardians have a serious catcher logjam, with Patrick Bailey, Austin Hedges, and David Fry in the Majors, and all three minor league catching options being relatively solid options as well.

Cleveland trading a catcher this summer would not be a surprise at all at this rate. Ingle is a top prospect, and he would be a bit of a surprise to see dealt this season, unless it was for a truly incredible player.

But, Huff and Naylor are two catcher options that the Guardians could trade this season, even though they might not bring back as large a return as Ingle would in a deal.

With the Guardians already fielding trade calls on all three of these minor league catching options, it would make sense if one were dealt this summer.

Huff is 25 years old with a .942 OPS in Triple-A, and Naylor has a .778 OPS in the minors this season after his .438 OPS Major League stint. Ingle is only 24 years old and has a 1.011 OPS this season.

It will be very interesting to see what trade, if any, materializes from this catcher trade report from Rosenthal. All three are subjects of trade inquiries, so it would not be a surprise if one of the three were dealt.
