The B.C. Halal Food Fest turns 5 this year and organisers are recognizing the milestone by expanding the event.
“For the past five years, B.C. Halal Food Fest has brought together food lovers, families, local businesses, and the community for one unforgettable experience,” notes information in an email from organiser Salaam Events.
“This anniversary edition is set to raise the bar even higher” with food, shopping, and entertainment.
According to a post on a Facebook page for the event, Salaam Events will celebrate “five incredible years of food, culture, and community” July 24, 25, and 26.
The halal food fest will feature 50-plus food and drink vendors, 70-plus market vendors, live entertainment and stage performances, a fun-filled carnival with rides for all ages, and many family-friendly activities.
The event is moving this year too. Held in Holland Park for the past few years, the 2026 B.C. Halal Food Fest will take over the area in and around the Bill Reid Millennium Amphitheatre on the Cloverdale Fairgrounds for the first time.
Billed as “Canada’s largest halal food festival,” Salaam Events expects this year’s festival to be the biggest ever. Previous events have drawn upwards of 60,000 people. This year, they expect more than 100,000 people to attend over the expanded three-day period. In the past, the event has drawn festival-goers from the Lower Mainland, the Island, Alberta, and the U.S.
“Best of all, admission is free, making it the perfect event for families, friends, and food lovers to come together and enjoy the celebration,” notes the Facebook post.
The fest will run Friday, July 24 from 3 – 11 p.m., Saturday, July 25, from 11 a.m. – 11 p.m., and Sunday, July 26, from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m.
The B.C. Halal Food Fest has continued to expand over the years. In year one, it was a one-day event held at Surrey Civic Plaza. They moved to Holland Park in year two and expanded to two days.
