SFU professor creating an archive of 2SLGBTQ+ stories in Surrey

At Simon Fraser University’s Surrey Campus, a presentation was hosted by Professor of Gender, Sexuality & Women’s Studies, Jen Marchbank.

The presentation showcased Marchbank’s newest project, a collection of oral history interviews from the 2SLGBTQ+ community of Surrey for the purpose of creating a digital archive.

As stated by Marchbank during her presentation, the queer history in cities such as Surrey that reside on the periphery of larger metropolises like Vancouver is often overlooked. This project aims to combat that by sharing the lived experiences of 2SLGBTQ+ throughout Surrey. To learn more about the project, we sat down for an interview with Jen Marchbank.
