BC Lions, TELUS to plant 20,000 trees ahead of Touchdown Kelowna

The BC Lions are more than just football players.
The football team is partnering with TELUS to plant 20,000 trees in the Okanagan Valley to restore areas impacted by wildfire.
The announcement comes just a couple of weeks ahead of Touchdown Kelowna, a nine-day summer football festival featuring two BC Lions CFL regular-season games, a variety of community concerts and family events.
“Our franchise is proud to have a footprint across British Columbia, and our commitment to Kelowna further epitomizes this,” said BC Lions president Duane Vienneau.
“Touchdown Kelowna will have a lasting impact on both the community and the BC Lions. The planting of these trees is something we are proud to include as part of this special legacy.”
The trees will represent the 20,000 fans that are expected to fill the modified Apple Bowl stadium for each game on June 27 and July 4.
TELUS says this tree-planting event will add to the 26 million trees they have planted across Canada in recent years.
