Edmonton police are investigating a collision that killed a four-year-old girl in a north-end neighbourhood on Sunday.
At around 5:15 p.m. Sunday, the girl was walking through a parking lot in the area of 66 Street and 170 Avenue in the McConachie neighbourhood with her mother.
The girl broke free from her mother, ran onto 66 Street and was hit by a Jeep. Police say bystanders immediately stepped in to help and called EMS.
The four-year-old was transported to the Stollery Children’s Hospital but died of her injuries there.
The 23-year-old driver of the Jeep stayed on scene, and police say neither speed nor impairment is a factor in the collision.
Edmonton police say their Major Collision team is in charge of the investigation.
