With a busy weekend of racing around the globe, it was easy to miss the Canmore MTB Classic. But it keeps getting bigger. And this year it drew riders from around the world to the Canmore Nordic Centre. The event is the only Canadian stop for the UCI Mountain Bike Continental Series calendar. Which meant riders arrived from the United States, South America, Australia and New Zealand. They’re all chasing valuable UCI points. With the UCI now offering Continental Series riders a route toward World Cup starts, every point matters.

Logan Sadesky leads Canadian men

The top Canadian result in the Elite Men XCO race came from Logan Sadesky, who finished second overall behind American Ivan Sippy. Sadesky crossed the line 2:10 behind the winner. Félix-Antoine Leclair added another top-10 result for Canada in seventh, while Mathis Duval finished ninth.

Duval also impressed in Friday’s short track race, finishing fourth in the Elite Men XCC and missing the podium by less than a second.

Canadian women dominate short track

The Elite Women XCC race belonged to the Canadians. Elli Clark took the win ahead of Léa Bouchard and Nico Knoll, completing a Canadian sweep of the podium. Ella Myers finished fourth and Eleanor Winchell fifth, giving Canadian riders five of the top five positions.

Clark carried that momentum into Sunday’s XCO race, finishing second overall behind Brazil’s Raiza Henrique. Alexia Harel joined her on the podium in third, while Lily-Rose Marois and Maude Ruelland rounded out a strong Canadian showing in fourth and fifth.

Junior Canadians shine

The Junior Men’s XCO race featured an almost entirely Canadian podium. Emilien Belzile took the win ahead of Ethan Wood and Collingwood Collective rider Evan Moore. William McFarlane finished sixth and Sagan Goertz eighth.

The Junior Women’s race also produced several strong Canadian performances. Eliane Blais finished second behind New Zealand’s Millie Junge, while Alexa Haviland was fourth. Collingwood Collective’s Elly Moore finished seventh, followed by Clare Hauber in eighth and Flavie Nadeau in ninth.
