Two Winnipeg connections are celebrating after the Carolina Hurricanes were crowned the 2026 Stanley Cup champions on Sunday night.
The 2025-26 roster includes Winnipeg native Seth Jarvis and former Winnipeg Jet Nikolaj Ehlers.
In a post-game interview, Jarvis says it is the greatest moment of his life. “It means the world. This is the greatest moment of my life. And to be able to share with the guys on the team, everything we’ve been through and my family and these guys right here, there are no words for it.”
Jarvis says that having the support from family and the friends who made the trip to Vegas around him has meant everything. “It means the world. Obviously, doing it for my family. These guys have been through everything with me from a young age. If my grandpa were still here, I know he’s looking down. He would be losing his mind. So there are a ton of people I need to thank, but those guys have been here forever.”
Following the victory, an emotional Nikolaj Ehlers was asked what message he wanted to share with Winnipeg fans.
“I loved being in Winnipeg. This was the dream there. I’m obviously sad I wasn’t able to do that with the guys in Winnipeg and the city of Winnipeg. They hold a special place in my heart. They’re family.”
