A total of 31 people died on Montreal-area roads in 2025, a drop of 7.7 per cent compared with the average death tolls recorded in the area between 2020 and 2024, the Société de l’assurance automobile du Québec announced on Tuesday.
However, 188 people were seriously injured during the same period, an increase of nine per cent compared with the four-year average.
Across Quebec, 371 people died on the province’s roads in 2025, a decrease of eight compared with a year earlier, and 1,282 were seriously injured, one more than in 2024.
The number of those slightly injured also increased in 2025, with 28,365 reported, a jump of 1,632 compared with 2024.
