Tyson Fury’s appearance at Sunday’s UFC Freedom 250 event at the White House shocked many onlookers.
The former two-time heavyweight champion was seen in the US for the first time in five years following his connection to former boxing advisor and alleged Irish drug cartel head Daniel Kinahan. He was seen at the White House alongside UFC and Zuffa Boxing head Dana White as well as President Donal Trump, and teased a “massive” announcement.
The appearance seems to be linked to the ongoing saga between White and Eddie Hearn over who is promoting Fury’s long overdue clash with Anthony Joshua. Hearn has said in Joshua’s contract that White and Zuffa can have nothing to do with the event, but with Fury and White teasing working together it now leaves many questions.
“For the last couple of weeks, I’ve been hearing from the media and other people that I’m not involved in the fight,” said White following Sunday’s event. “I’ve been hearing that Tyson Fury couldn’t get out of the country and couldn’t get into the United States and it just seems like everybody’s always wrong.
“Listen, let me reiterate. Judge me January 1st of 2027 on what we’ve done this year with boxing. I keep talking about all these other guys are talking a lot of stuff. I haven’t said anything about any of these guys. I haven’t talked shit about anybody or any other stuff. I’m in my lane. I’m doing my thing. Just sit back and watch. We’ll make an announcement soon.”
