Fraser Paramedic Society’s inaugural golf tournament involved some exciting moments including a hole-in-one for a big prize.
At Guildford Golf & Country Club on Monday, June 15, paramedic Mike O’Mahony shot an ace on hole #2 to win a new Honda CR-V sponsored by Abbotsford The Honda Way.
“It was a moment that nobody in attendance will soon forget,” said Nick Pardalis, vice-president of Fraser Paramedic Society, a non-profit, volunteer-run organization that aims to improve morale and connection among paramedics.
The prize vehicle sells for around $41,000 and up.
“We were overwhelmed by the support from the community,” he added. “More than 16 sponsors and numerous prize and silent auction donors helped make the event a tremendous success.”
The tournament sold-out with 136 golfers and an additional 51 guests for dinner, bringing together paramedics, firefighters, police officers, nurses and healthcare professionals, community members and local businesses “for a day focused on connection, camaraderie, and supporting the first responder community,” Pardalis told the Now-Leader.
In January, Fraser Paramedic Society hosted a Code 3 movie screening for close to 200 parademics at Surrey City Hall as a social gathering for members of the group, launched in 2024. The comedy, starring The Office favourite Rainn Wilson, offers both laughs and heartbreaking moments as an overworked, underpaid paramedic crew clocks a 24-hour shift in Los Angeles.
