Environment and Climate Change Canada issued a severe thunderstorm warning for areas north and northeast of Montreal on Wednesday afternoon as it tracks a storm “capable of producing damaging wind gusts, up to quarter-size hail and heavy rain.”
The warning also applies to the north shore of the St. Lawrence River between Terrebonne and Quebec City.
A warning was also issued for Montreal, Laval and the south shore, but that warning was cancelled around 2:30 p.m. as the storm weakened while passing through the city.
The storm resulted in power outages on the West Island, including parts of Pierrefonds, Kirkland, Beaconsfield, Baie-d’Urfé and Dorval. Trudeau airport also reported a power outage.
