Two people were hospitalized after an early morning fire east of the core, Ottawa paramedics said.
Ottawa Fire Services said they were called to a two-storey townhome on Belisle Street around 4:30 a.m.
Once there, firefighters found smoke coming from the second floor and everyone out of the building, which they said they confirmed while searching the home through heavy smoke.
Paramedic spokesperson Nicolas Guertin told CBC they took someone under 18 years old to hospital in serious but stable condition. He didn’t have a specific age.
Paramedics also transported a woman who was injured while getting out of the building and was in stable condition.
The fire was declared under control at 4:51 a.m., firefighters said, and was contained before it could spread to any adjoining units.
Two adults and two children will be displaced, they said.
