Emanuel Bacon, a 23-year-old Wright State student who represented Dayton at the National Golden Gloves tournament in Tulsa, Oklahoma last month, will be one of the featured boxers on the 17-bout amateur fight show on Saturday, June 20, at The Lift, 114 S. June Street in East Dayton.
Bacon, who was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan and has Guatemalan heritage, lives in New Carlisle. He trains at the DMC Boxing Academy in Centerville which is putting on Saturday’s show.
After winning his first fight at the Gloves tournament — with a decision over Eric Mendez of Paterson, N.J. — Bacon lost his second bout there. His 14-5 record has come mostly as a lightweight fighter.
The Lift, which is also a popular wedding venue, is owned by Seth and Ashley Doliboa. Seth played college baseball at Bowling Green and Wright State before playing professionally in Portugal, Germany and Turkey, as well as the NBA’s G-League. T
An early 1900s ice cream factory, The Lift was renovated by Doliboa Construction, which includes Seth and his brother Cain, a three-year forward with the Dayton Flyers who finished his collegiate carer at Wright State.
Both the 6-foot-7 Cain and 6-8 Seth are in the Springboro High Hall of Fame and Seth is also in the Wright State Hall of Fame.
Saturday’s fight card begins at 3 p.m.
