Surrey Police Service investigate 911 threat at SMH

The Surrey Police Service is investigating threats lodged at about 1:35 p.m. Thursday at Surrey Memorial Hospital.
“I can tell you that at about 1:30 this afternoon we had a male call 911, some threats concerning a Fraser Health facility,” Sergeant Ali Gailus said. “So members are on scene, working with staff to ensure the safety of everyone.
“They’re just doing checks inside and outside of the facility out of an abundance of caution but at this time there’s no evidence of anything significant,” she said shortly after 3 p.m. “It should be a matter of time very shortly that code black would be lifted.”
Code black typically refers to a bomb threat at a hospital.
“It looks like it will be resolved here shortly.”
Gailus said she didn’t know if the caller was an adult.
“It’s a male. That’s why I said male, not a man or a child.”
