Kids in the Baridmore neighbourhood will soon have access to a new playground.
Dignitaries from the city, province, Pembina Trails School Division and the Baridmore Advisory Council were on hand at the sod turning of the new play structure, which will be located at Baridmore School in the 700 block of Baridmore Boulevard.
“Play is a powerful part of how children learn, connect and build confidence,” said Tracy Schmidt, Minister of Education and Early Childhood Learning. “From school improvements like this, to building new schools and child-care centres, our government is committed to investing in the futures of Manitoba children by providing infrastructure to help them learn, grow and thrive.”
Replacing a 25-year-old structure
Over the summer, the current 25-year-old structure will be removed, and a new accessible one will be built and ready for students when they return in the fall.
“We can’t wait to see the learning and growth that will take place for students in this new outdoor space,” said the Pembina Trails School Division.

Construction begins this summer
“This new play structure will be loved and used by the students of Bairdmore School every day,” said Janice Lukes, Councillor for Waverley West. “Much gratitude is extended to the Bairdmore Parent Advisory Council for initiating the playground renewal project.”
Construction will begin this summer, with completion expected by the end of the year.
