A 17-year-old boy is facing a charge of attempted murder after what police say they believe was a premeditated attack at Lester B. Pearson High School, where he was formerly a student.
Police were called to the school in the city’s northeast just after noon on Thursday.
He was allegedly armed with a knife, smashing property and threatening students and staff, according to police. He’s accused of attempting to stab another student as well. The student suffered minor injuries and did not need to go to a hospital.

The suspect had “minimal history” with police, they said.
He’s charged with one count of attempted murder, one count of uttering threats and one count of mischief to property under $5,000.
Because he is under the age of 18, he cannot be named.
He’s due in court Monday.
