Deal comes on heels of Montreal’s first-ever Walter Cup championship this past spring
MONTREAL — Prince Albert’s Kaitlyn Willoughby will be back on the ice with the Montreal Victoire this coming Professional Women’s Hockey League season.
The Victoire announced Friday that Willoughby, 31, has signed a two-year contract extension with the reigning Walter Cup champions and as a result will be returning to the team for her second season in Montreal this fall.
WIlloughby broke into the PWHL with the Toronto Sceptres during the 2023-24 campaign and played the majority of two seasons in Toronto before being traded late in 2024-25 to Montreal.
That proved to be a fortuitous move for the former University of Saskatchewan Huskies standout, as she recorded career bests with three goals and six points in 29 games while helping the Victoire win their first Walter Cup in team history.
All told, Willoughby has three goals and eight points through 99 games in her PWHL career.
Willoughby played five-seasons in the Sask Female AAA Hockey League with the Prince Albert Bears, putting up 34 goals and 97 points across 96 games while emerging as a solid two-way player.
That led to five seasons with the U of S Huskies in the CIS and USports, where she’d rack up 50 goals and 111 points in 132 games while being named the CIS Rookie of the Year in 2014 and picking up second-team Canada West all-star honours in 2016-17 and 2017-18.
Willoughby’s extension will keep her a member of the Victoire through the 2027-28 season.
