A man and woman in their 70s have died after an assault at their home in Mississauga Thursday night, said police.
Officers responded around 7:07 p.m. for calls of a disturbance at a home near Lakeshore Road E. and Hurontario Street, said Peel police Insp. Mike Mavity at a news conference at the scene.
A couple, aged 70-years-old and 71-years-old, were found in life-threatening condition, he said.
Both victims were taken to hospital, where they eventually died from their injuries, said Peel police. Mavity said their injuries were not caused by a firearm.
Police identified the couple’s son 46-year-old Jordan Sangwin as a suspect in the case. Mavity said the man is “considered armed and dangerous” and that he had left the scene before police arrived.
While he said there is no immediate threat to the public, anyone who sees Sangwin is urged to contact police right away.

Sangwin is described as a 5′ 10, white man with a slim build. He was last seen wearing a blue shirt, checkered shorts and a baseball cap, said Mavity.
“We are encouraging Sangwin to contact a lawyer and turn himself in,” he said.
Mavity said the suspect did not live at his parents’ home and that investigators don’t believe he has a firearm or left the residence with a weapon.
Police shared a photo of Sangwin during a prior arrest, but would not expand on his criminal record.
He said residents can expect a police presence in the area as they conduct the investigation and gather video from the scene.
The couple are Peel region’s 10th and 11th homicide victims of 2026.

Residents shocked to hear of incident in quiet area
Sangwin has been a regular customer at the nearby bagel shop since 2012, said owner Jerry Rai, who described him as a “nice guy.”
He said he was shocked to hear Sangwin was named a suspect.
“It’s a nice community all around here,” he said, adding he didn’t know the senior couple.
Local Facebook groups were abuzz upon hearing the sirens and seeing an increased police presence in the area Thursday night, said social worker David Charchalis, who works in the area.
He said it was shocking to hear that something like that could happen in such quiet area.
“Someone comes here and does that, it’s like a movie now,” said flower shop owner Jade Swan. “It’s pretty scary.”
She said she recognized Sangwin as someone who would frequent the area and walk by, but doesn’t know him or the couple personally.
